Explore a country that possesses an energy and charm all of its own, Egypt. With a Wild Frontiers Egypt small group tour or tailor-made holiday, you will be able to visit Giza Pyramids and the Great Sphinx, explore Cairo's vibrant streets, and cruise the Nile from Luxor to Aswan.
The sheer scope of its ancient history is monumental, encompassing as it does the origins of the ancient Pharaohs and the civilisations of the Greek, Romans and Jews. With a written history that spans some five millennia, this dramatic melting pot of history witnessed the rise of Christianity and Islam, saw off the colonial pretensions of Britain and France and lived through the turbulent years of independence and the Arab Spring.
The legacy of the great builders of antiquity lies everywhere along the Nile Valley. From the Great Pyramids of Giza to the Temples of Karnak and Abu Simbel, these landscapes still bear witness to one of the greatest civilisations ever known. Along the meandering ribbon of the Nile, farmers tend the fertile soil in the shadow of monuments that can trace their ancestry back to the pages of the Bible.
Whilst in Cairo, its bustling capital, you can find spectacular Islamic architecture and ancient Coptic churches sharing the thronging backstreets with colourful bazaars and spice stalls that transport you back to another century.

Egypt has an almost perfect winter climate: dry, sunny, and not unpleasantly hot. The area gets very little rainfall and experiences a dry heat, with daytime averages of between 25ºC / 77ºF to 30ºC / 86ºF, dropping sharply as the sun disappears and night-time approaches. Food and drink
Egyptian food reflects the country's melting-pot history, and many dishes have modified Greek, Turkish, Lebanese, Palestinian, and Syrian traditions to suit Egyptian tastes.
Food in the south, closely linked to North African cuisine, is zestier than that found in the north, but neither is especially spicy.
Local cuisine tends to be hearty and the main staples are aysh (pitta type bread), ful (beans - often mashed with onions, tomatoes & spices), shurbha (soups), stews, mezze (dips such as humous and tahini), chicken, lamb and fish.
Alcohol is available in Egypt, but standards vary wildly, and it can be expensive. Many travellers choose to bring their own supply.

All of our small group tours are designed to cater for solo travellers: the number of solo travellers will vary from tour to tour, but usually over half will be travelling alone.
