Take a Botanical Gardens tour
Take a stroll around the Royal Botanical Gardens, one of the best of its kind in Asia containing more than 5000 species of flora, and you can see fruit bats hanging from the trees. It was also the Headquarters of Lord Mountbatten during the Second World War.
See the Temple of the Tooth ceremony
Witness the evening prayer ceremony at the Temple of the Tooth, followed by a performance of Kandyan dancing. The Holy Tooth, said to be Buddha's left canine, is kept here. Every August full moon it is paraded around town as part of a ten-night festival.
