Santani Wellness, Kandy

An hour from Kandy on a 116 acre tea estate surrounded by jungle, the Santani Wellness Retreat welcomes travellers to a wellness retreat purposefully built to meet the highest sustainability standards. Guests can choose from Mountain View Chalets, each with one bedroom and a balcony looking out over the hills or Garden View Chalets, with connecting rooms for families and opening on to the lush garden. All rooms have natural ventilation to eliminate the need for air conditioning, upcycled furniture and large bathrooms with rain showers. To encourage guests to switch off and enjoy the retreat there is no wifi in communal areas and is only available on request in the rooms. Guests can instead head to the yoga pavillion, enjoy the outdoor seating area, possibly with an evening campfire, or relax in the lounge. The theme of wellness will run throughout your stay, meals are based on ayurvedic nutrition ensuring they are healthy and yet delicious, the spa offers a range of treatments again based on ayurveda. All meals are served in the restaurant which offers views out across the hills as you enjoy the fine dining experience. Sustainability runs through the core of Santani from the electric buggies used around the resort, to the build and design and the careful use of water, guests also benefit from the locally grown produce and the retreat's own gardens.
