Example Itinerary
This is an example itinerary. Our experts have all travelled widely in the region and will be happy to tailor any of our itineraries to suit your tastes and budget, or build a trip from scratch.
Day 1 ARRIVE WINDHOEK
After being met at arrivals you will be transferred to your hotel in Windhoek.
Day 2 WINDHOEK - DAMARALAND
Transferring back to the airport this morning, you’ll then catch your flight northwest to Doro Nawas. From here, you will be flown to Desert Rhino Camp within the expansive Palmwag Concession, run by the superb Wilderness Safaris in conjunction with the Save the Rhino Trust. Rhino tracking is a big focus here and you will be told all about the incredible work carried out whilst you stargaze next to the firepit this evening.
Day 3 EXPLORE DAMARALAND
In spite of its apparently barren appearance, this region is rich in animal and plant life and indeed, its vast expanses are renowned for the variety of desert-adapted wildlife that flourishes here. Game drives with one of the camp's exceptionally knowledgeable guides provides a chance to learn more about Damaraland's remarkable wildlife and you may even be lucky enough to spot rare desert elephants or black rhino. In between drives you will return to camp to enjoy the serene tranquillity that the camp’s unique location affords.
Day 4 EXPLORE DAMARALAND
As the name suggests, the Damaraland Desert Rhino Camp is an ideal spot from which to search out Namibia's rare and elusive desert-adapted rhinos. In the company of an experienced local guide, you will head out on foot in search of them; a fortunate encounter with these magnificent animals is likely to be unforgettable experience.
Day 5 DAMARALAND - SKELETON COAST
Departing after breakfast, you will be transferred to the airstrip for a return flight to Doro Nawas and then an onward flight up to the Skeleton Coast, one of Namibia's most inaccessible and mysterious locations. Following lunch at your lodge, the afternoon has been set aside to explore some of the area around the camp with your guide, before enjoying sundowner drinks later overlooking the lush Hoanib oasis.
Day 6 EXPLORE THE SKELETON COAST
A full day on the Skeleton Coast provides a chance to explore more of this remarkable coastline. Wild and beautiful, this region was once referred to as “The Gates of Hell” by Portuguese sailors and today its coast is strewn with the wrecks of countless ships. Exploring by car or small plane, the sheer isolation is startling and the thought of being alone in this vast wilderness is truly empowering.
Day 7 EXPLORE THE SKELETON COAST
Despite the dry conditions, the area around the camp plays host to an incredible diversity of life, which in its turn attracts leading wildlife researchers from around the world. Today provides a unique opportunity to spend some time with these experts, learning about their work with herds of elephants and gemsbok, as well as the growing populations of lions and hyenas that make the occasional appearance.
Day 8 SKELETON COAST - KUNENE RIVER REGION
After a final morning activity and a fortifying breakfast, you will be collected from the camp and transferred back to the airstrip for the flight to Doro Nawas followed by a second flight to Namibia's far northwest region. Your destination is the Kunene River area, on the border with Angola. Arriving in time for lunch overlooking the river, this afternoon will then be spent relaxing before an afternoon orientation activity.
Day 9 EXPLORE THE KUNENE REGION
A full day to enjoy this majestic corner of the country provides a chance to avail yourself of a number of activities around the lodge. A boat cruise along the Kunene River is highly recommended, as is a day or evening nature drive. Other options include quad biking trips, nature walks and a visit to a traditional Himba village.
Day 9 EXPLORE THE KUNENE RIVER REGION
Your last full day here provides the chance to visit Hartmann's Valley, one of Namibia's most geologically spectacular areas. A desolate yet entrancing landscape, the valley offers up a striking contrast to the surrounding area and is home to the Himba, one of the last truly nomadic tribes left in Africa. Returning to the lodge, you may like to join a farewell cruise along the Kunene to spot the giant crocodiles that bask and lurk amongst the shallows.
Day 11 KUNENE RIVER REGION - WINDHOEK
Bidding farewell to the wilds of Namibia this morning you will fly back to Doro Nawas and then to Windhoek, arriving back in the capital for your onward flight or further travel arrangements. Your tour ends here.

Positive Impact of this Trip
Making a Difference
Community Tourism
People and local communities have always been at the heart of Wild Frontiers and the travel experiences we offer. Through community tourism we have the opportunity to generate real positive impact, supporting people we visit through sustainable local development, and in turn help to alleviate poverty and protect culture and environments in often more vulnerable destinations. While doing so, our clients gain richer travel experiences and more meaningful connections with the people they meet.
Conservation and Climate Action
As a travel company, we hold a responsibility to minimise our environmental footprint and contribute to sustainability, and work closely with local communities to support their efforts. By implementing initiatives such as carbon measuring, tree-planting, reducing single-use plastic and promoting eco-friendly practices, we can help mitigate the negative impacts of tourism on fragile ecosystems and local communities. Additionally, prioritising conservation efforts helps preserve natural habitats and wildlife, ensuring that future generations can continue to enjoy the wonders of our planet.
Wild Frontiers Foundation
The Wild Frontiers Foundation aims to provide a platform to create awareness, raise money and deliver funding to projects in countries where we operate as a travel company. Through the foundation, we are able to channel money into grass roots projects, which we have either established ourselves or support through charity partners. These include initiatives focused around education, the empowerment of local people and community conservation.
