SUGGESTED ACCOMMODATION
The Sanctuary at Ol Lentille, Laikipia Wildlife Reserve
Small and intimate with stunning views out across the Laikipia plateau, Ol Lentille is ideal for visitors that want a truly private safari experience with just four beautifully appointed villas. Each villa has a different feel with unique designs and features; the Colonel’s and Chief’s houses have their own private plunge pools. The communal area has plenty of space for guests to relax with comfortable sofas for lazing during the afternoon, an open fireplace for the evenings and a refreshing swimming pool to help escape the heat of the day. The food is superb, with private in-villa dining being a very popular option. Activities such as quad biking and camel trekking can be enjoyed.
Serian The Original, Maasai Mara Conservancies
Serian commands a truly stunning location overlooking the gently flowing Mara River, with views across to the Olololo Escarpment. With just five tents, including a spacious family tent, it is a very small camp allowing the hosts, guides and guests to build rapport and lasting memories. Each of the tents has an adjoining bathroom, beds draped in full-length mosquito nets and private shaded decks. The main mess area is equally stylish and comfortable with lots of sofas and a spectacular decking area for alfresco breakfasts and lunches. Serian harkens back to safaris from a gentler age and also has access to its own private conservation area and a sleepout treehouse known as “The Nest”.
Kinondo Kwetu, Mombasa & Southern Coast
The beautifully styled Kinondo Kwetu overlooks Galu Beach on Kenya’s southern coast and is a wonderfully homely retreat after a hot safari. There are 15 rooms of varying styles and layouts, but all have light, airy décor and a beach lodge feel, and the bigger rooms have private covered verandas. For relaxation, head to the wood-fired sauna or the pool surrounded by sun loungers and shaded areas, where all guests receive one complimentary PADI diving lesson during their stay. Given the lodge’s proximity to the ocean, the seafood is superb. Tennis, snorkelling and community project visits can be enjoyed complimentary, whilst motorised water sports, deep sea fishing incur an extra cost.
