A line-up of inspiring speakers and a 750-strong crowd helped us raise £3500 for the foundation at our Evening of Adventure last week.

It was the hottest ticket in town with TV presenter Ben Fogle, explorer Benedict Allen, award-winning journalist Christina Lamb and ex-champion jockey turned adventurer Richard Dunwoody on the bill.

Even on the day of the event at the Royal Geographical Society in London people were still vying for spare tickets on facebook and making frantic last minute appeals for places to our office. Others declaring they would just turn up and hope that a few others didn’t!

And the packed theatre wasn’t disappointed as Benedict retold stories of being sold bad tempered camels that refused to carry supplies across Mongolia, while Christina offered an insight into travelling in Iran and Richard re-lived his epic 48-day journey in the footsteps of Shackleton across Antarctica to the South Pole.

Ben Fogle wrapped up the evening of talks with his adventures across the Empty Quarter, Oman’s harsh desert region, where again troublesome camels played a big part.

Boosting the audience, a further 200 people watched on from the comfort of their own living rooms via our live periscope stream.

All in all it was a fantastic evening, and a great start to our 2016 fundraising campaign for Wild Frontiers Foundation educational projects in Ethiopia, India and Pakistan.
