Galle Fort is a unique boutique hotel situated in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage listed Galle Fort area. The building itself is over 300 years old and was once a Dutch merchants house. Now it has 13 bedrooms that have been restored in a luxurious, colonial style, the sensitivity of which has been recognised by UNESCO. It has also won several awards for its excellent service and historic atmosphere. In keeping with the 17th Century Era, the property does not have televisions or radios, however there is now a small laptop with WI-FI access available to guests in the lobby. The restaurant produces excellent Asian fusion cuisine, using fresh seafood resourced from local fishermen.

Amangalla
Lying within the walls of the fort, the five star Amangalla Hotel is an amalgamation of buildings that have a history stretching back over 400 years. Previously the site was the headquarters for the Dutch commander and his officers and later a billet for British soldiers. In 1865, the buildings were combined to create the New Oriental Hotel which traded for 140 years before opening its doors as the Amangalla in 2005. This is a beautiful base from which to explore Galle Fort, a Unesco Heritage site, and the historic town of Galle. The property boasts panoramic views of Galle and its fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
