Enjoy a unique tour around the lakes, villages and landscapes of Antsirabe in a shared or private group. The aim of the tour is to go into the heart of the rural region and bridge the gap between different cultures. The route will take you from Antsirabe to Lake Andraikiba, Lake Tritriva and Betafo before returning to Antsirabe. The total distance is 63km, with 30km being on dirt road. As you pedal to the crater lakes of Andraikiba and Tritriva, you will pass the typical landscape of the Merina ethnic group. Discover the stories and myths of the lakes, with maybe the chance to dip in one, before cycling to Belazao village. See Mount Tritriva emerging as you go. We will stop at a small mountain (1800m) for a picnic lunch. Once back at Antsirabe, indulge in a cyclist’s massage, the perfect end to an in-depth tour of rural Madagascar.
You will be met at Antsirabe and driven to Ihasy village, set on the foot of Mount Ibity, within a protected area. You will be shown the natural wonders of Mount Ibity by a local guide, who will show you endemic species, carnivorous plants, caves and a sacred spring. There will also be the chance to meet pottery and basket makers from the village. Spend a full day hiking in the area, stopping to enjoy a picnic lunch prepared by the villagers. The village is supported by an organisation that promotes sustainable tourism in Madagascar and contributes at least 10% of the tour cost to a local project, chosen and managed by the village. …Read more
