Isalo Rock Lodge commands a stunning location looking out towards huge granite outcrops that give the lodge its name, just 30 minutes by road from the main entrance of the Isalo National Park. The large property is modern and well-run with 60 bedrooms set in blocks to one side of the main lodge area. Inside, each of the rooms are spacious and modern with air-conditioning, indoor sitting areas, modern amenities, personal mini-bars and sliding glass doors leading on to private balconies. The en-suite bathrooms are beautifully appointed and come with full amenities as well as showers and freestanding baths. The main area of the lodge has a large bar area and a dining room where a mixture of local and international dishes are served. There is a sparkling swimming pool tucked away to one side of the main lodge, a popular spot for guests to relax in the afternoon and soak up the sunshine. Isalo Rock Lodge is recommended for easy access to the national park and a bit of luxury to relax in.

Jardin du Roy, Isalo National Park
Found just 20 minutes from the Isalo National Park entrance at Ranohira, Jardin du Roy is a quintessentially French property offering the feel of a traditional Provencal farmhouse deep in the Madagascan countryside. There are eight smaller buildings that house five bedrooms each and are scattered around the grounds, with 40 rooms in total. Room options include doubles, triples or family rooms, and all are very spacious and modern with air-conditioning, stone floors, open fireplaces and lots of red décor. The beds are all covered in full-length mosquito netting and the en-suite bathrooms are well appointed. There is a lovely outdoor swimming pool with a large patio area around it, and the main part of the lodge has a lounge, dining room and bar area. Guests can stroll through the gardens, enjoy a game of tennis and even tackle one of the self-guided walking trails around the property. Well-run with an excellent restaurant and beautiful location, Le Jardin du Roy is somewhere that truly captures one’s heart during a stay there.
Relais de la Reine, Isalo National Park
Relais de La Reine is found on a large expanse of land that it shares with its sister property, Le Jardin du Roy, a 20-minute drive from the Isalo National Park. Beautifully styled and with excellent facilities, there are 30 rooms in total, with five large “cottages” housing five bedrooms each. All of the rooms are similar in layout and feel, with stone floors to keep them cool, verandas or balconies looking out to the granite hillside behind the hotel and spacious en-suite bathrooms. The situation of the rooms means that they tend to stay nice and cool, but the luxury rooms also come with air conditioning. The main part of the lodge is a multi-level lounge, reception, bar and dining area where a variety of dishes are served, including Malagasy and French-influenced plates. The swimming pool has a number of shaded areas around it where guests can relax in the afternoons and enjoy the beautiful views. Things to keep you occupied at the lodge include easy access to the Isalo National park, a tennis court on-site, easy access to walking trails and large stables with 12 horses.
