Walking in Palestine

Highlights:

Overview:

The rich landscapes of this much disputed land are riddled with long distance footpaths that provide a fascinating insight into a region that has lain at the crossroads of world history for over three millennia.

One such trail is the so-called ‘Path of Abraham’ which runs from south-east Turkey to the deserts of the Jordan Valley. This trail - which was voted in 2014 by National Geographic Traveller as being one of the best new walks in the world - passes through some of the most culturally and historically significant landscapes in the Middle East and this incredible journey provides us with an opportunity to gain a unique insight into an ancient and fascinating land: a land that has seen the passing of Crusaders and Saracens, the crucifixion of Christ and the bloody conflicts of the Arab-Israeli wars.

Travelling on foot through the Jordan Valley we venture from Jenin to the beautiful springs of Al Auja, before travelling on to explore the Dead Sea region and the biblical cities of Jericho and Bethlehem, some of the most revered and contentious settings on earth.

Please note that the 2019 itineray is 1-day shorter than the 2020 itinerary and ends in Jerusalem rather than Bethlehem.
