Day 1 ARRIVE DELHI

Day 1 ARRIVE DELHI

On arrival into Delhi you will be greeted by your Wild Frontiers representative and transferred directly to your hotel for check in. This afternoon you’ll start by exploring New Delhi, with its wide tree-lined boulevards, offering ever-changing perspectives of Lutyens' landscaped city. This part of the city is known for its formal parks and magnificent buildings, including the parliament building and Rashtrapati Bhawan (the official residence of the President of India designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens), as well as the iconic India Gate.

Day 2 DELHI

Day 2 DELHI

Today you will explore Old Delhi. Walk past old crumbling havelis, see the vibrant street food stalls, visit the famous Jama Masjid mosque and wander through colourful markets. Continue to the imposing Red Fort, built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan and considered one of the most important buildings of Mughal architecture from that period. Later this afternoon enjoy an opportunity to experience the true flavours of Indian cuisine and Indian hospitality, as you visit the local spice and vegetable market to learn about the different ingredients, followed by a cookery class where you will learn to prepare a range of Indian delicacies before enjoying the fruits of your labours with a traditional dinner.

Day 3 DELHI - AGRA

Day 3 DELHI - AGRA

This morning you will transfer to Agra, where on arrival you will visit the magnificent Agra Fort, built by the Mughal emperor Akbar. This fortified citadel overlooks the banks of the Yamuna River, and served as the headquarters of the Mughal Empire when Agra was its capital. Continue on to a less-visited part of Agra to then enjoy a Mughal heritage walk through the farming community of Kachhpura, led by a USAID-trained specialist guide. The walk ends with some refreshments on the rooftop of a local home where you can enjoy watching the sunset and catch a glimpse of the beautiful Taj Mahal across the river in the far distance.

Day 4 AGRA - FATEHPUR SIKRI - BHARATPUR - RANTHAMBORE

Day 4 AGRA - FATEHPUR SIKRI - BHARATPUR - RANTHAMBORE

Early this morning you will visit the iconic Taj Mahal for sunrise. This is an extraordinary time of day to visit, as the soft sunlight hits the exquisite marble relief work and semi-precious stones, resulting in a stunning blend of light and colour. After some breakfast, set off to Bharatpur, visiting the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Fatehpur Sikri on the way. On arrival to Bharatpur, board a local train for your exciting journey through the countryside, ending in Ranthambore for the evening.

Day 5 RANTHAMBORE

Day 5 RANTHAMBORE

Today you will explore the wilderness of Ranthambore National Park going in search of the Bengal Tiger, as you are taken on a morning and afternoon game drive, accompanied by a naturalist. Ranthambore National Park is centred around the 10th century Ranthambore Fort, and is one of India’s most picturesque parks, home to the elusive tiger, as well as many other species of wild animals including sloth bears, chital deer, wild boar, caracal, monkeys, leopards, crocodiles, jackals, jungle cats, Indian Fox, and numerous species of birds, providing fantastic wildlife viewing experiences.

Day 6 RANTHAMBORE - JAIPUR

Day 6 RANTHAMBORE - JAIPUR

This morning you will journey from the wilds of Ranthambore to the colourful streets of Jaipur. Your afternoon starts with a stop at the Palace of Winds, the iconic building which represents most people’s image of this city. From here you’ll visit the fascinating and beautifully ornate City Palace Museum, as well as Jantar Mantar, the UNESCO listed Royal Observatory. Finish with a walk through some of the old city’s backstreets where you can admire the many arts and crafts this city is so famous for.

Day 7 JAIPUR

Day 7 JAIPUR

This morning you start the day with a wonderful rickshaw ride around Jaipur with the Pink City Rickshaw Company, an initiative that supports local women from low-income communities to earn a living. From here visit the stunning Amber Fort, the Rajput masterpiece perched high on a hillside just outside of Jaipur city centre. This afternoon is free to then relax or explore at leisure. Make sure to look out for the renowned photographer Tikam Chand as you pass the Palace of the Winds - here on Jaipur's busy streets you can have your portrait taken with a 150-year-old camera, the most beautiful and original souvenir you could ever ask for.

Day 8 JAIPUR - PUSHKAR

Day 8 JAIPUR - PUSHKAR

This morning you will be picked up from your hotel in Jaipur and transferred to the mystical town of Pushkar. Made famous by its camel fair, which takes place for a week in October/November, Pushkar is a beautiful lake-side town and, as it is home to India's only Brahma temple, an important pilgrimage site.

Day 9 PUSHKAR - JODHPUR

Day 9 PUSHKAR - JODHPUR

Today you will be picked up from your hotel in Pushkar and transferred to Jodhpur, a medieval desert town dominated by the towering and spectacular Meherangarh Fort. En route you can stop to visit the gardens at Mandore and the temple of Maha Mandir. This afternoon is free to relax at the hotel or explore the city at your own leisure.

Day 10 JODHPUR

Day 10 JODHPUR

Visit to the majestic Meherangarh Fort today, stopping at the royal cenotaph Jaswhat Thada en route. The Meherangarh Fort sprawls across a 125m high-hill, just one kilometre from Jaswhat Thada, and is entered through a series of seven gates built by the reigning Jodhpur Maharajas who each extended to the fort over the centuries. You will then be taken down to the famous ‘blue’ old city to visit the central bazaar which sprawls from the clock tower.

Day 11 JODHPUR - NARLAI

Day 11 JODHPUR - NARLAI

Today you drive to the village of Narlai, a journey through the beautiful landscapes of the Khamli Ghats and on to the Aravalli plateau. This afternoon you can enjoy some time exploring on foot, a wonderful way to discover the traditional way people live in this village. During the walk, you may get the opportunity to go inside some of the houses and get the chance to talk to some of the locals, even sharing a cup of tea with them, a great way to engage with this friendly community.

Day 12 NARLAI - RANAKPUR - UDAIPUR

Day 12 NARLAI - RANAKPUR - UDAIPUR

This morning you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to Udaipur. Stop en route to visit Ranakpur, home to a beautiful fifteenth century Jain temple made up of 29 halls and 1,444 intricately carved pillars. The day ends in Udaipur at your hotel, where you are free to explore the city or relax.

This morning your local guide will take you to visit the highlights of this beautiful city, including the City Palace, which was built in 1559 A.D and sits on the edge of Lake Pichola, the Jagdish Temple and the Garden of the Maid's Honour. This afternoon learn about the art of miniature painting, which has been around in India for centuries. You will get the chance to meet with one of the few remaining artists in Udaipur who will give you an introduction to this beautiful but dying art, after which you can try out your artistic skills and create your own miniature painting.  End the day by taking a beautiful sunset cruise on Lake Pichola, the perfect end to your journey through Rajasthan.
