With a lack of luxury accommodation options in the protected national park, Villa Playa Tayrona offers one of the most high-end ways to experience the surrounding natural beauty. The boutique property features only six suites making the allowing for a very personable service. Rooms are either Suites or Deluxe Suites (Cabanas) measuring approximately 45m² and all come with both a king-sized bed and a single bed. Suites have a cool, light-coloured, airy design whilst Cabanas have high, thatched-roofs and a more rustic appeal. Villa Playa Tayrona offers common mod-cons such as Wi-Fi, hot water and air-conditioning often not found in the area. Neighbouring the national park and found two kilometres from its entrance, the hotel has an ideal location to explore the natural beauty in addition to enjoying its own unique views at the mouth of the Rio Piedra joining the Caribbean Sea.

Cayena Beach Villa
The Cayena Beach Villa is a newer hotel in the town of Magdalena, around a 15-minute drive from the entrance to the national park. The hotel maintains local character with a touch of luxury overlooking the Caribbean Sea. The 11 rooms are spread out over three separate buildings and are made up of standard, deluxe and superior suites. Each room features a king-sized custom bed, a personal balcony, seating area, luxury bathroom, blackout curtains and air conditioning. Open spaces and lush greenery adorn the property and the restaurant is open air by the pool; guests can also choose to dine on their private balcony if they wish. Local fresh fruits are used make tropical juices in the morning, perfect after attending one of the onsite yoga classes. If you don’t feel like the drive to the national park, you can walk to the nearest beach for a snooze in a shaded hammock instead.

Ecohabs Lodge
The stunning coastal Tayrona National Park is the spectacular setting for these eco-friendly “comfort” huts dotted along the hillside overlooking the wild beaches of Tayrona. The 14 huts are simple, rustic and spacious, split level cabins with private bathrooms, hot water and ceiling fans (no air-conditioning). Each accommodation is connected by lit pathways on the hillside and the views from every corner are unbeatable. Each hut comes with a hammock in which to lounge in true Caribbean style and the property also has easy access to the beach, a beachfront spa and a fun restaurant serving local cuisine. If wishing to stay within the national park, this one of the very limited options available and provides a great, rustic experience however, guests should be prepared for the basic nature of the stay and accommodation.
