Accommodation - Botswana

Chobe Bakwena is the closest lodge to the Kazangula Ferry Crossing, just 1.5kms away and is the first lodge one comes to when arriving into Botswana from Zambia and Zimbabwe. Whilst the location outside the Chobe National Park can be off-putting to some, the secluded location and friendly, owner managed atmosphere is a huge plus and helps to make for a memorable stay. The lodge is comprised of 8 twin or double rondavels and 2 family units, which are set under the shade of large Acacia trees. The rooms are all spacious and comfortable with lots of white in them helping to keep them cool in the heat of summer. All rooms boast their own deck, raised up over the level of the river so they offer superb views and a wonderful place to relax, especially on the day-beds that are built in to the deck. Outdoor showers are also offered which are very popular with guests. The main area of the lodge has a lovely swimming pool area, whilst the dining room, lounge and Rain Tree bar is the hub of social activity in the evenings. The food is superb, with a strong African theme to it helping to make the experience very authentic. Activities from the lodge include game drives through the Chobe National Park and cruises along the river, which are especially popular in the afternoons. Bird watching trips, cultural tours and visits to Impalila Island can also be arranged.
