Our rating: Ultra | Property style: Hotel
The hotel chain took this prized property took over from the Sheraton and has done a fantastic job of returning it to its former grandeur. Along with the Belmond hotel on the Brazilian side of the falls, this five-star accommodation is the only other hotel to boast views of the falls and is the only one on the Argentinian side. Its ideal location, actually within the national park, means that guests are able to walk to the falls and explore at their own leisure. Rooms are bright, airy and modern and facilities at the hotel include a large outdoor infinity pool with falls views; a 24-hour gym at the Yasí Health Club & Wellness Centre; and the Merkado Restaurant serving a Spanish-influenced menu and four bars.

It was constructed from local wood which creates a lovely natural and rural atmosphere. All rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable and have private balconies that overlook the rainforest. There are some great local excursions, including zip-ling through the forest, that can be arranged through the hotel. There is an outdoor pool and restaurant onsite but being one of the closest hotels to the city, the restaurants of Puerto Iguazu are a short 10-minute taxi ride away.
