Sequel to the incredible Prisoners of Geography, The Power of Geography is, once again, a fascinating and accessible insight into the role that topography and geography plays in global politics.

In the first book, Marshall delves deep into why some countries are more powerful than others and how mountains, rivers and access to the sea affect this. The Power of Geography focuses more on the past, present and international relations of the ten regions he shines a light on and how this is likely to shape the future role they will play on the global stage.

The great thing about these books is that although the information is by no means simple, it’s very digestible. Marshall utilises his extensive knowledge of foreign affairs and over 30 years of journalistic background in a concise and informative way but retains a witty sense of humour that makes this an easy, captivating read.
