Absolutely no reason to delay visiting Iran. The well-known sights, historical, religious, and cultural, are all well-curated and dazzling beyond expectation, plus there are some amazing landscapes, and the genuine friendliness and welcome of the people is a joy. The walking/ hikes in rough terrain were exceptional. The rock formations are formidable, especially in Petra and Wadi Rum. Ascend the 1000+ steps to the Monastery and higher to overlook it, is worth every breathtaking step.

Dan, our representative at Wild Frontiers, is a consummate professional who exhibits expertise, an ability to communicate complexities and demonstrates a high level of patience with neophytes. He listens carefully and selects options for an excellent itinerary. Further, you are not abandoned after the itinerary is assembled. He was there and available throughout the journey. It’s like having an additional guide over your shoulder – a welcome comfort in a strange land.

The Persian Explorer is a good introduction to Iran, covering the key highlights, with atmospheric hotels, varied, plentiful and good food and good company. Although I was doubtful about visiting Iran in winter, the temperature was perfect for visiting and we had no weather issues. The guide was superb, very knowledgeable and also very good company.

The tour seemed to fit a huge amount in within the time whilst also allowing time for things to sink in. Obvious highlights like Meroe and Jebel Barkal lived up to expectations but the other less obvious sites and interactions with locals were also fascinating.
