Q: How did you fall into tour leading?
A: I am bilingual and have always loved exploring and being active in the outdoors. A local tour operator asked me if I could join a trip as a translator and I soon decided this is what I wanted to do.
Q: What do you like most about tour leading?
A: Meeting people, exploring, learning and sharing.
Q: Where is your favourite part of the world?
A: The Andes Mountain Range in South America.
Q: What was your biggest travel highlight?
A: Descending from the high desert mountain summits in the Andes, into the Amazon jungle, all in one day - it never ceases to amaze me!
Q: What’s the craziest request you’ve ever had from a client?
A: So many! From one client asking me to buy electric curlers in a tiny remote Andean town (unsuccessfully of course), to another falling in love with a horse at the first riding location on a trip - we then had to take the horse in a trailer for the rest of the trip, instead of changing horses at each Estancia.
Q: What’s the one thing you couldn’t travel without?
A: Good hiking shoes and a book.
Q: Which famous person would you most like to travel with?
A: Jane Goodall.
Q: Have you ever made a cultural faux pas?
A: All the time - us Argentines are very straightforward and there is nothing we do not talk about in our culture, so more than once I have ended up saying things that do not sound so relaxed in other cultures, or language.
