The ferry experience was unforgettable and provided a fitting contrast to the rest of the journey where we were usually the only travellers around. The desert camping was wonderful and the myriad of different sights and experiences we encountered on our way surpassed expectation. The trip provided a real opportunity, in a short period of time, to gain a little insight into both ancient and modern aspects of Sudan. (November 2011)
