I knew the cultural side of the trip would be fantastic and it was. I particularly loved Aleppo with its magnificent citadel and winding streets and atmosphere, the Syrian people were charming, and Palmyra was utterly stunning. But what I hadn't anticipated (and this is classic WILD FRONTIERS) were the additional extras:...camping by and swimming in Lake Assad....the glorious day spent whizzing down the Euphrates....and the hammam experience in Aleppo which was unforgettable, and I would recommend to absolutely anyone, however shy and British!
