This Short walk in the Simien Mountains was a remarkable introduction to Ethiopia and its peoples. We had a fascinating glimpse of the early religious history with visits to museums and the rock hewn churches at Lalibela. We saw the extremes of modern Addis Ababa and yet also met with local villagers and children in the North. The trek along the Simien plateau to the Imet Gogo viewpoint gave us one of the most spectacular mountain views in the world and an opportunity for a real “Attenborough” moment amongst the Gelada baboons. All in all, a brilliantly busy week which engendered new friendships and left us with unforgettable memories, also thousands of photographs which still need sorting.
