It was a privilege to be in the Sudan. I would go back tomorrow (without the pesky insects which had us flapping our arms around for a couple of days – the locals were also doing a lot of arm waving!). Wonderful vistas particularly when camping in the desert, lovely people, the experience of visiting sites which are so rarely seen –pyramids, temples influenced by not only the Egyptians but also the Romans, the effects of English colonialism (General Gordon, the Mahdi, Kitchener and the Battle of Omdurman) and the wonders of the Khartoum Museum.
