In July 2008, I began my Silk Road Odyssey. Before my trip, the office staff at Wild Frontiers worked with me closely so that everything would be in order. I had packed my sleeping bag and clothing for a variety of temperatures, gotten the necessary visas in my passport, and was looking forward to a unique adventure in some of the “stans” that were formerly part of the Soviet Union. But even so, I was not prepared for the magnificent mountain vistas during the trip. The panoramic views, which were simply spectacular, helped make the periodic discomfort during the long, bumpy drives worth the time and effort. Adrian “Ade” Summers was our experienced guide along with Marc Leaderman (who works for Wild Frontiers and tagged along to learn more about this trip) took very good care of the dozen in our group. I have travelled a lot with several different tour companies and would not hesitate recommending Wild Frontiers to those who want a very special adventure by a well-run and organized company.
