"Where? Are you sure?" said most of my friends. I did wonder if I had chosen the right tour given I usually develop altitude sickness and have arthritis that affects long uphill treks etc...but the gentle way in which the tour is organised for acclimatisation and the competence of the tour leader meant I had few problems as long as I took "lower level" walks in the magnificent landscapes full of flowers, and rode horses in half days rather than full days. I tested myself to my limits but it was well worth it. The helicopter ride was breathtaking with spectacular views. The food was a pleasant surprise (including duck and great pancakes!)and the vodka always welcome (especially the cranberry one!) The people were warm and welcoming throughout our tour and I enjoyed trying my skills with their language. Kyrgyzstan is a little known gem, well worth the visit.
