The Cities of the Silk Road is a tour of contrasts. One day marvelling at the turquoise beauty of the buildings or enjoying a meal cooked in a family home. Another day is spent looking in astonishment at the extravagant white marble of Ashgabat or the night sky lit by equally unreal fires at the gas crater of Darvaza. Be prepared for long journeys on bad roads which are lightened by the camaraderie of the small group who become friends.
