We had a wonderful and varied adventure in Bolivia. La Paz felt like another world, very high and far away from home, with hardly a tourist in sight. We were enchanted by Lake Titicaca, and loved delving into the mystical world of the medicine man and admiring crystal clear night skies at the Observatory. The city of Sucre was a great highlight with its fine buildings and Indian textile museum, and staying at the working farm of La Candelaria was a rare and privileged opportunity to witness and share the Bolivian way of life. The Potosi silver mine was fascinating and so was the story of the Royal Mint. The vastness of the Salar de Uyuni only comes home on arrival, an incredible sight and surreal at sun set time - the forest of cactus on Isla de Pescado was impressive, and the sight of the Coquesa mummies left in a cave on their own with their few belongings was very moving. Altogether a well-constructed tour but made successful by our energetic, fun and ever caring guide Liz.
