Sudan is as yet an unspoilt tourist destination. The locals are friendly and make you feel very welcome. You can totally immerse yourself at the ancient sites - temple at Soleb, the pyramids at Meroe and the ancient Jeble Barkel. Our guide Abdelmouim had a fantastic knowledge of the history and culture of all these places as well the local market in Shendi and the various nomad villages we visited. The Nubian wrestling was an amazing spectacle. In Khartoum you have great diversity from the confluence of the blue and white Niles, the excellent archaeological museum, and the more modern history of Mahdi's tome. If you are interested in ancient civilizations and diverse cultures I would highly recommend this trip while tourism is still relatively new in Sudan.
