In my opinion, travelling should be about the journey itself, not the destination.

As a child, I used to dream about different places and I had a wild fantasy to fill my passport pages with visas and stamps from all around the world. So slowly I started my journey from the time of graduation, where I was pursuing an IATA (International Air Transport Association) at the same time. My interests were tilting more towards travelling. I now hold a certificate of IATA from Montreal Canada along with my bachelor’s degree.

Initially, my first job was working with Make My Trip, a domestic travel portal in India. From handling reconfirmation of hotel bookings to handling payments, it lasted just over 5 years. During this period, I travelled to many well-known leisure destinations in India. It started with Mount Abu with my office colleagues when I realised that the travel bug had well and truly bitten me. Udaipur was the beginning and end of every discussion. Whenever I felt low, I used to dip my toes in Fateh Sagar Lake at Udaipur and life seemed to be back on track. It’s one of my favourite destinations of all time.

Eventually, my focus moved to the Northern side of India. The mountains of Himachal Pradesh covered with snow are so scenic and breathtaking that for a while you would forget that you are in India.

During my time with MMT, I also covered Central and South India before I joined Qatar Airways and with that came my first opportunity for international travel. I visited Qatar (Doha), Thailand and Singapore.

Sadly, when Covid hit the world, my journey with Qatar Airways ended after almost 5 years. I was very much sure that I wanted to stay within the aviation industry until I discovered Wild Frontiers.

BEST TRAVEL MOMENTS

Q: Favourite city?

A: Well, it’s hard to choose but I have most of my best memories in Udaipur and Manali. Basically, any city whose temperature is on the cooler side.

Q: Favourite country?

A: India - although I love many places like Qatar, Krabi and Singapore. There is a saying that once you have stayed in India, especially in Ahmedabad, it would be difficult to adjust to any other country. Trust me, you will feel like you are in your mom’s lap when you are in Ahmedabad.

Q: Favourite meal?

A: I love all kinds of food unless it’s spicy or oily. The food I miss the most is my mom’s half-cooked omelette, known as half fry omelette, which she can make like a professional chef.

Q: Most memorable journey?

A: It has to be Singapore, right from finding a hostel to reaching different spots using local trains. It was fun and adventurous.

Q: Favourite travel advice?

A: I think it’s the way you handle the unplanned and unexpected. Memories are made with people, not by people.

Q: Next on the must-see list?

A: There are lots of places on my travel wish list, but in India, I’d love to experience Kashmir. I also love the look of the Wild Frontiers tour to Azerbaijan, Georgia & Armenia.
