Galle Fort is a unique boutique hotel situated in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage listed Galle Fort area. The building itself is over 300 years old and was once a Dutch merchants house. Now it has 13 bedrooms that have been restored in a luxurious, colonial style, the sensitivity of which has been recognised by UNESCO. It has also won several awards for its excellent service and historic atmosphere. In keeping with the 17th Century Era, the property does not have televisions or radios, however there is now a small laptop with WI-FI access available to guests in the lobby. The restaurant produces excellent Asian fusion cuisine, using fresh seafood resourced from local fishermen.
