Pueblo Inkaterra Machu Picchu
Our rating: Luxury | Property style: Lodge
The Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo hotel is a sprawling village of Andean casitas on the edge of Aguas Calientes town with a special entrance over a small bridge from the main road into town. It has been named as one of National Geographic's Unique Lodges of the World. The hotel has 85 casitas and 2 villas, all beautifully decorated with rustic furniture and traditional upholstery and furnishings. One of the highlights of the hotel is the complimentary tours offered within its large grounds such as bird watching, nature walks, a twilight walk and a visit to the orchid garden which houses a large species collection. Guests are also welcomed to participate in the hotel's Spectacled Bear Project. There are two onsite restaurants: the Cafc Inkaterra, a public restaurant regarded as one of the town's most high-end, perched above the river; and the main guest dining room central to the hotel building. The former is well known and can become busy. Breakfast and a dinner are included during your stay. The hotel also has a spa and 'ponds' in the gardens, which are essentially small plunge pools.
