ITINERARY
This is a suggested itinerary. Our experts have all travelled widely in the region and will be happy to tailor any of our itineraries to suit your tastes, or build a trip from scratch.
DAY 1: LONGYEARBYEN

DAY 1: LONGYEARBYEN
The journey begins in the remote settlement of Longyearbyen, located off Isfjord, the largest fjord in western Spitsbergen. Founded in 1906 as a mining settlement, today the town's continued existence owes much to its importance as a centre for polar research and responsible tourism. The most northerly permanently inhabited settlement on earth, you will spend this evening at the centrally located Radisson Blu Hotel.
DAY 2: LONGYEARBYEN - FOXDALEN

DAY 2: LONGYEARBYEN - FOXDALEN
The adventure begins in earnest today. After being collected from the hotel you will be driven over to the husky kennels in nearby Advent Valley, where you will meet the dogs and change into your winter clothing. After an introduction to dog sledding you will then help with harnessing the dogs and preparing the sleds, before heading off into the Arctic wilderness. The plan is to head towards the ice cave in Scott Turner Glacier before continuing on down to Foxdalen where you will spend the night.
DAY 3: LONGYEARBYEN - BRENTSKARET

DAY 3: LONGYEARBYEN - BRENTSKARET
Today's journey sees you heading on towards the wilderness lodge at Brentskaret. Weather and snow conditions will determine the exact routing, but no matter the path taken, you will find yourself becoming more attuned to the handling of the sled and the individual characters of the dogs as you glide through the magical Arctic scenery today. Arriving at the cabin later this afternoon, help unharness the dogs before settling down to a comfortable evening beneath a remote winter's sky.
DAY 4: FOXALDEN - LONGYEARBYEN

DAY 4: FOXALDEN - LONGYEARBYEN
Your last day on the trail sees you heading back towards Longyearbyen today, following a different trail to the journey out and stopping off for lunch in Foxdalen en route. Leaving the dogs back at the kennels, you'll then head back to the hotel in Longyearbyen for a final evening.
DAY 5: LONGYEARBYEN

DAY 5: LONGYEARBYEN
After breakfast you will transfer back to the airport for your return flight home.
