ITINERARY
This is a suggested itinerary. Our experts have all travelled widely in the region and will be happy to tailor any of our itineraries to suit your tastes, or build a trip from scratch.
DAY 1: LONGYEARBYEN

DAY 1: LONGYEARBYEN
The journey begins in the remote settlement of Longyearbyen located off Isfjord, the largest fjord in western Spitsbergen. Founded in 1906 as a mining settlement, today the town's continued existence is mainly thanks to its importance as a centre for polar research. Boarding the cruise ship this afternoon, you'll depart the port later this evening.
DAY 2: SVALBARD

DAY 2: SVALBARD
Over the following days you'll venture deep into a landscape of ice-covered fjords, where a backdrop of breathtaking mountains and dazzling glaciers provides the perfect accompaniment to the journey. Early season voyages often provide the best chance to see large ice flows in the Arctic pack ice, which usually means excellent wildlife viewing. The later trips however can often venture further into the less explored regions of Nordaustlandet and Kvitøya, or along the continental shelf where large whales are attracted by the rich upwelling nutrients.
