Providing a chance to enjoy a short adventure amongst the towering mountain landscapes of the Annapurna Range, this 7-day trek takes you deep into the villages and forests of the Modi River Valley. A moderate to strenuous hike, you will be accommodated in comfortable lodges along the way, enjoying traditional Nepalese hospitality as you trek through one of the most visually stunning landscapes on earth. The journey begins in Kathmandu, where you will have an opportunity to take an optional scenic flight across the spectacular Himalayas before flying on to Pokhara. In the company of experienced guides and porters, your trek then takes you into the Modi River Valley and on towards Ghandruk, home to the famous Gurkhas. With the majestic Himalayan peaks as a permanent backdrop, you will pass through small villages and across high suspension bridges, negotiating your way through forests filled with tree orchids and rhododendrons as your trail takes you on towards the old mountain village of Dhampus. Returning to Pokhara at the end, you will then have a chance to visit the town’s renowned Tibetan Refugee Camp, before flying back to Kathmandu.

Arriving in Kathmandu you will be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel.

After a chance to enjoy an optional early morning flight over the Everest ranges you will fly on to Pokhara later, to be driven on to the start of the trek. Following the trail through the lower foothills of the Annapurnas, you'll bask in some stunning views across the Pokhara and Modi Valleys, enjoying a picnic lunch en route, before arriving at the lodge later this afternoon. On arrival you can relax and enjoy some magnificent views of the sacred "Fishtail" Mountain of Machhapuchhre.

Leaving the lodge after breakfast, your journey takes you past the outlying farms this morning and along the course of the Modi River Valley. Leaving the valley behind you'll then climb towards the high mountain peaks, following a trail that takes you through small hamlets and past terraced rice fields and lush forests, before depositing you at your next lodge in Ghandruk some five hours later. From here the views of the surrounding mountains are truly a sight to behold.

Awaking to the sunrise lighting up the majestic Annapurna peaks, you might like to enjoy tea and coffee in the garden this morning, before joining your guide after breakfast on an exploratory walk through the village and the surrounding countryside. Ghandruk was once a major recruitment centre for the famous Gurkha regiment and today the village women still maintain a tradition for weaving beautifully made Nepalese rugs.

After a relaxing breakfast you'll set off for Lhandruk this morning, following a trail that initially descends steeply towards the Modi River. The base of these cliffs is where Nepal's famed honey hunters climb up to collect the honey. Crossing the river by suspension bridge, you'll then head up a series of switchbacks towards the village of Lhandruk. Arriving in time for lunch you can enjoy the glorious views, before joining your guide on a walk around the village later. Trek time around four hours.

The journey today follows the contours of the hill, negotiating an undulating trail that passes through a rural setting of villages and farmland. Leaving after breakfast, the trekking time on to the next lodge is around four hours, arriving in time for you to enjoy lunch before perhaps taking an optional hike later around the surrounding villages.

Beginning with the unspoiled village of Patlekhet, today's trek takes you through a sub-tropical landscape of tree orchids, magnolias and rhododendron forests. A stop at the village of Pothana provides a chance to see where many of the Tibetan traders live and sell their wares, before completing the journey on to the Basanta Lodge. From up here there are sweeping views across the entire Annapurna Range and after lunch you will be able to take a walk to the old village of Dhampus.
Day 8 BASANTA LODGE DHAMPUS (1525m) - POKHARA (1000m)

After an early breakfast you will set off along the ridge, before descending the wooded hillside towards the terraced farmland and the valley floor below. A short walk of around one and a half hours to the end of the trek, you will then be driven back to Pokhara by road. Should you wish to, you can make a stop at the Tibetan refugee camp on the way back, to spend a little time exploring the temple complex.
Day 9 POKHARA - KATHMANDU

Transfer to the airport for the short flight back to Kathmandu. The rest of the day is at leisure to rest or explore the city independently.

You will be taken to the airport for your international flight home.

Tiger Mountain Lodge, Pokhara
Situated 1,000 feet above the Pokhara Valley, Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge offers spectacular views along the mighty Himalayan Mountains. Set amongst the mountains, the lodge's hand-cut stone cottage rooms feature handmade wood furniture and rich Tibetan rugs making the rooms warm and inviting. The grounds around the property feature a Nepali style courtyard and terrace perfect for pre-dinner cocktails or a candle light dinner. Further facilities include an infinity pool and library containing a collection of Himalayan mountaineering and other literature. The lodge offers a variety of dining experiences from elegant dining to children's favourites with the kitchen using fresh, local and organic produce from its very own garden. Activities available with the lodge's own local guides include walks, bird-watching, cultural visits in the adjacent villages, sightseeing around the Pokhara Valley, day hikes and much more.
Sanctuary Lodge, Birethanti
Sanctuary Lodge is located at 3,600ft, was hand crafted by local artisans and has stunning views of Mt. Machapuchere, also commonly referred to as the sacred Fish Tail Mountain in the distance. The lodge can be accessed on foot from Nayapul which takes approximately an hour and a half to 2 two hours. This walk takes guests along the beautiful Modi River and past tranquil villages until they reach the lodge. Alternatively, guests can hire a 4x4 jeep and drive 30 minutes from Nayapul to the lodge. There is a total of 18 comfortable, twin sized rooms each with ensuite bathroom facilities and an individual front porch with chairs facing the mountain gardens.
