Begin with a historical walk where you take in some of city’s beautiful sights, including the famous Dhobi Ghat, a 140-year-old open-air human-powered laundromat. Moving on to ‘sound’, you’ll get the chance to immerse yourself in Bollywood music and dance. Reward yourself by sampling some of Mumbai’s culinary delights and then a visit to the city’s spice market, where you can see how spices are roasted and ground to be sold to locals. Day 3 Mumbai - Udaipur with City Tour

You will be transferred to the airport today where you will catch your flight to Udaipur. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your beautiful hotel. A city filled with hilltop forts, luxurious palaces, tranquil lakes and quiet alleyways - it's no surprise that Udaipur has been called the Venice of the East. This afternoon your local guide will take you to visit the highlights of this beautiful city, including the City Palace, which was built in 1559 A.D and sits on the edge of Lake Pichola, as well as the Jagdish Temple.

Day 4 Udaipur: Miniature Painting & Sunset Cruise

The art of miniature painting has been around in India for centuries, having first been introduced by the Mughals who originally brought this much revered art from Persia. Small in size and incredibly detailed, these paintings mostly depict the history and legends of the Rajput and Mughal people, as well as stories from the Hindu Puranas. Today you will get the chance to meet with one of the few remaining artists in Udaipur who will give you an introduction to this beautiful but dying art, after which you can try out your artistic skills and create your own miniature painting. Later this afternoon, you can enjoy a private sunset cruise on the historic 14th century Lake Pichola, offering fantastic views of the lake and surrounding landscape, including parts of old city, as you pass by the picturesque ghats with their distinctive steps, as well as the monumental lakeside facade of the City Palace.

The Oberoi Udaivilas Breakfast

Day 5 Udaipur – Shahpura with Local Activities

Set off by road today and drive through beautiful countryside to the picturesque village of Shahpura, home to the stunning Shahpura Bagh. After settling in, this afternoon you can make the most of the wonderful activities available at Shahpura Bagh thanks to its special rural and wetland location, with over 250 small lakes attracting over 180 species of bird. Enjoy some birdwatching on one of the lakes, or set off with one of the naturalist guides in search of more nature and photography hotspots. Learn about the nearby communities with a visit to the local village, home to a vibrant market displaying traditional arts and crafts. Witness the craftsmanship of the Joshis (priests) as they create a traditional phad painting or enjoy a traditional song and dance by the Kalbelias. Take a scenic drive to Dhikola, where you can visit a 400-year-old fort, or set off by bicycle to explore the countryside further.
