Situated amongst the stunning fell country of Finnish Lapland, this spectacular five-day adventure offers a chance to experience some of the most remote landscapes in Europe. Beginning in Muonio at a charming hotel located close to the inspiring scenery of the Pallas-Ylläs National Park, your trip includes two unforgettable days exploring the dramatic Arctic wilderness by dog sled.
Managing your own team of four to five huskies, you’ll drive your sled across the snow-covered landscapes of the high Arctic fells, travelling around 25 kilometres each day and overnighting in a secluded wilderness cabin. Returning to Muonio, you’ll then have a chance to enjoy some free time exploring at your leisure with opportunities to visit a reindeer farm, try your hand at snowshoeing or take a skiing trip around the Arctic lake.
Following a sumptuous Lappish dinner, your trip then culminates with an incredible evening in an Aurora Dome where, hopefully, you will enjoy the magical lights of the Aurora Borealis beneath a clear Arctic sky.
TRIP HIGHLIGHTS
- Experience an exhilarating two-day husky safari throughout the Arctic wilderness
- Watch for the Aurora Borealis in the remote wilds of Finnish Lapland

SUGGESTED ACCOMMODATION
Jeris Hotel
Hotel Jeris's perfect lakeside location allows for some fantastic excursions, and due to it's isolation Aurora hunting is at a premium. The spa is renown for having an ice pool; it is heated to stop it freezing but is still frightfully cold and the perfect accompaniment to a Finnish Sauna. There are 32 rooms available, with some located in the main building, but also a selection of cabins that are great for families and perfect for couples.
Aurora Dome
A unique overnight experience set on the fringes of a frozen lake. The Aurora Domes' shape echoes the igloo design of old but modified to a high end luxurious finish and comes equipped with plenty of blankets for the cold winter nights. A traditional log burner is the main source of heat and they provide plenty of wood to keep it well stoked. The front of the dome is clear offering beautiful views of the night sky and the potential to view the Northern lights from the comfort of your room. The lodge and farm of Torassieppi are at your disposal for breakfast and you have use of their sauna and outdoor ice bath. The domes' location well within the Aurora zone provide a fantastic opportunity to see nature's fantastic light display.
Wilderness Cabin
You will be staying in various cabins dependant on the conditions and speed of the expedition. Each cabin is unique and they all offer a fantastic experience of being in the wilderness and their remote location makes them ideal for star gazing and spotting the northern lights. The cabin predominantly have no electricity or running water and the bathroom facilities are shared, yet despite the basic setting as always in Finland you will find a sauna for washing. You are encouraged to get involved with the camp activities such as collecting firewood and water for the evening. The guides provide all the evening meals and having your food cooked on an open fire in the middle of the wilderness is a fantastic experience. Often the sleeping arrangements are dormitory style. You are provided with all the necessary equipment for your stay in the wilderness such as an arctic-grade sleeping bag and thermals. Everything you have is transported by you and we ask you to limit your luggage to the essentials.
