Day 1: Tour starts in Addis Ababa

Meet for lunch then explore Addis with the Cathedral, Museum and Mercado among the highlights.

Day 2: Addis Ababa – Afrera

This morning we’ll take a morning flight to Semera. Once landed, we will make our way into the barren landscape of the Danakil Desert

Day 3: Lake Afrera – Erta Ale Volcano Basecamp

Today we load up the camels and start our trek to the rim of the volcano. We camp on the crater rim, a safe distance away from the lava!

Day 4: Erta Ale Volcano

Erta Ale is an active volcano, which has one of only 5 lava lakes in the world and is a spectacular sight. Today we have the full day to explore the volcano.

Day 5: Erta Ale Volcano – Dallol

Today we drive to Dallol, off road, through the desert. We stop at a palm grove for lunch and should have a chance to try some of the local palm wine.

Day 6: Dallol – Mekele

We'll head to the town of Mekele, en route we may get the chance to see the arduous work of salt being extracted and loaded onto the camels.

Day 7: Mekele - Lalibela

A long but epic drive today through some stunning countryside.

Day 8: Lalibela

Today we will vist both clusters of churches in Lalibela.

Day 9: Lalibela – Simien Mountains

We will take an early morning flight to Gondar, from where we will head to the Simien Mountains, where we will hopefully have time for a short walk this afternoon.

Day 10: Sankaber Camp – Geech Camp

Today’s trek takes up from Sankaber to Geech Camp along the edge of the escarpment passing through Amhara villages, stopping to admire their way of life.

Day 11: Geech Camp - Chennek Camp

Leaving Geech camp we head towards one of the finest viewpoints in the area, Imet Gogo, before heading on to Chennek.

Day 12: Chennek Camp – Bwahit pass – Ambico

Today head towards the village of Ambico, located on the foothills of Ras Dashen, the highest peak in Ethiopia.

Day 13: Climb Ras Dashen

Today we climb the highest peak in Ethiopia before returning back down to Ambico to sleep.

Day 14: Ambico – Sona

Today we will trek to the village of Sona enjoying fantastic views of peaks seen in previous days.

Day 15: Sona – Lamo

Today our walk will descend steeply to the Ansiye River, before continuing downhill to the village of Lamo.

Day 16: Lamo – Mulit

This morning we will continue to follow the Ansiye River downstream before we have our last climb up to to Mulit camp.

Day 17: Mulit - Gonder

This morning we have a short trek to Adi Arkay before jumping in the vehicles and heading to Gonder, for a well-deserved shower and free time to wonder around town.

Day 18: Tour ends in Addis Ababa

Today we will have chance to look around Gonder before our afternoon flight back to Addis.
