Abay is the Amharic synonym for the great African river, the Blue Nile. Abay, which transcends the north-western terrain of the country has been affixed with the psyche of Ethiopians ever since the biblical days. Abayminch Lodge is located about 200 metres off the main road about a 5 minute drive from central Bahar Dar and Lake Tana. The lodge is set in lush forest and offers 40 clean and comfortable rooms found within traditional tukuls. All have decent ensuite bathrooms and air-conditioning. There is also a nice local restaurant. Whilst it does not offer the lake side location of the Tana hotel, This is a slicker mid-range option.
Try Honey Wine- it is delicious and always made locally!
