The Emerald Hotel has been constructed to reflect the unique architectural style of the local Dorze people. The outside of the bungalows are made from bamboo and resemble Dorze houses with their very high roofs. These are thatched with leaves from the false banana tree or 'enset'. The design in front resembles an elephant trunk, a typical Dorze feature. Inside, the simple rooms showcase Ethiopian culture, using natural furnishings which originate from the surrounding area. There is a restaurant serving local and international food and both an indoor and outdoor bar service. The views are spectacular and they offer a great setting for you to enjoy while relaxing and sipping on a drink.
When you are in Gondar - go for dinner at the Four Sisters restaurant. This is a wonderful locally- run authentic spot, which serves great food and a lively atmosphere.
