Famous for its breathtaking scenery, which includes the world's third largest icefields after Antarctica and Greenland, it provides the perfect destination for an off-beat Chilean adventure. A trip that can be tailored to suit your needs, you'll start in Santiago and, staying at a mix of lodges and camps, you will trek, kayak and cruise across some of the most spectacular and remote landscapes in South America.
The first part of your journey takes you along the Carretera Austral to the shores of Lake General Carrera, close to where you will begin your kayak down the river to the town of Caleta Tortel. After a brief stay in Coyhaique, the regional capital, you then take a catamaran journey through the southern fjords to the luxurious Puyuhuapi Lodge, your base from which to explore the spectacular scenery of Chilean Patagonia. Returning through the Austral fjords, you'll enjoy the full majesty of the Andes Mountains as you head back to Puerto Chacabuco and then on to Santiago.

Day 1 ARRIVE SANTIAGO

On arrival to Santiago you will be met by a local guide and transferred to your hotel in the city centre.
Day 2 SANTIAGO - PUERTO GUADAL

Day 2 SANTIAGO - PUERTO GUADAL
Today, leave the capital city behind and fly to Balmaceda. When you arrive, you will be met and transferred along the Carretera Austral to your lodge on the banks of the Lake General Carrera. On the way, you will visit Villa Cerro Castillo and stop for lunch in a typical Patagonian restaurant. Continue towards Puerto Tranquilo and take a boat trip to the Marble Chapels (Capillas de Marmol), splendid marble caves drawn by the waves. This evening you will have dinner at your lodge.
Day 3 PUERTO GUADAL

Full day in the area of Puerto Guadal where you can enjoy several excursions including rafting, boat navigations, trekking, horse riding, fly fishing and more.

Transfer to Balmaceda to continue your trip to Puerto Chacabuco. Pick up in Balmaceda and transfer to your next hotel.
Day 7 PUERTO CHACABUCO

This morning you will board the catamaran to begin the journey through the fjords, experiencing the transparency of the waters, the majesty of the Andes Mountains wrapped in lush forests, and hopefully, encounters with playful dolphins. You will sail through a number of channels, which lead you to the San Rafael Lagoon, home to a beautiful glacier. After a visit of two hours, you begin your return trip, arriving in Puerto Chacabuco at about 10:30 pm where you will be transferred to the hotel.
Day 8 PUERTO CHACABUCO

During your stay at Loberias del Sur you will be able to experience the wilderness of Chilean Patagonia through different excursions. Today you will visit Parque Aiken where you will enjoy trekking and a typical lamb roast.
Day 9 PUERTO CHACABUCO – SANTIAGO

This morning you will be picked up from your hotel and taken to Balmaceda airport, a journey of approximately two hours, where you will board your flight to Santiago. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel for the final night of your stay.

Today you will be transferred to the airport for your return flight.

This three star hotel is a lovely, intimate lodging in the heart of the neighbourhood of Providencia. With just 28 comfortable rooms, it is a charming, homely option with informal friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere. There is tasty food served up in the roadside restaurant and you are well placed for sightseeing and exploring the delights of the capital. While the standard queen rooms are on the small side, the king rooms and junior suites are a much better size. The Hotel Orly is a reliable three star hotel in a fantastic location.
Loberias Del Sur Hotel, Puerto Chacabuco
The Loberias del Sur hotel in Puerto Chacabuco is located on the shores of the Patagonian channels in the Aisen region of Chile. The hotel offers 60 comfortable en suite rooms, all built in typically Southern style; the hotel is in keeping with the architecture known in the region. The hotel also has a restaurant, bar, coffee shop and gym and sauna for its guests to use. For those staying longer, the Loberias del Sur offers a range of activities including trekking, fly fishing, horse riding, canoeing and kayaking.
Mallín Colorado Ecolodge, Puerto Guadal
Four hours south of Coyahaique, along the Carretera Austral, is the lesser-explored region of northern Chilean Patagonia. Here, perched in the mountains overlooking Lake General Carrera, is the family-owned and run Mallin Colorado Ecolodge set within 550 hectares of private land offering their own exclusive trails. The eco-lodge has a local wood construction featuring lots of large windows with natural light to make the most of its stunning location. Accommodation includes a range of rooms and log cabins to suit different needs, with all offering stunning views of the azure blue Lake General Carrera and its surrounding mountains. Stays can be organised on a full-board basis, including excursions to the star attraction of the area, the Marble Caves. The experience is warm and cosy, and the service superb.
