This incredible journey will take you from the beautiful winelands of the Colchagua Valley to the harsh, surreal landscapes of the Atacama in the north, the world’s driest desert. Stay on the outskirts of the small town of San Pedro de Atacama and the salt lakes and lava flows of the most arid spot on earth. Covering some 1,000 kilometres, the Atacama offers a chance for trekking in the Salt Mountains, visiting the Moon and Death valleys and sunrise at the Tatio Geysers.
In stark contrast, see the windswept beauty of the south with its glittering glacial lakes and snow-capped mountains. Spend three days exploring the Torres del Paine National Park, staying in one of National Geographic’s ‘Unique Lodges of the World’. Kayak, hike, horse ride, catamaran and bike your way around the stunning glaciers, vast lakes, impressive mountains and interesting wildlife. Day 1 ARRIVE SANTIAGO

After arriving to Chile's capital, your local guide will be waiting at the airport to meet and welcome you to the country, before taking you to your hotel in the centre of the city, and helping you to settle in. You’ll have the rest of today to rest up after your international flight.
Day 3 SANTIAGO – SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA

This morning you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to the airport for your flight to Calama. Upon arrival, your hotel will send a private driver to meet you and bring you to the exclusive hotel on the outskirts of the small desert town of San Pedro de Atacama. The rest of the day is at leisure to enjoy the hotel facilities within a dramatic setting.

Head out to explore the otherworldly landscapes and valleys of the world’s driest desert with your private guide and personal 4WD vehicle at your disposal. You’ll be paired with an expert guide, who will be able to take you to the natural landmarks and wonders best suited to your interests.

Another day with your outstanding, handpicked guide and off-road vehicle at your disposal. You can choose between a range of nature-based or cultural experiences. Armed with a gourmet picnic lunch from the kitchen, you can venture further afield to the desert plateau or break up the day with some lunch and downtime back at the lodge.

Bidding adieu to the team at Awasi, you'll be taken back to the airport in Calama for your connecting flight to Puerto Montt, where you'll be met on arrival and driven to the isolated island of Chiloé. The next three nights will be spent at the luxury, sustainable Tierra Chiloé property in the heart of this stunning archipelag0, rich with cultural heritage.

Head out for a full day’s exploration of one of the island’s protected parks, Tepuhueico Park - a 20,000-hectare private conservation initiative. The day begins with a hike through its lush virgin forest, as the trail leads you along a path of enormous mañio, tepues and cinnamon trees, some of which are more than 600 years old, to the refreshing Rio Bravo waterfall standing over 10 metres tall. Your local guide will be on hand on to provide further information on the natural beauty about you as your progress deeper into dense vegetation. Later in the day, after lunch and some time to relax in the pure natural air, you’ll navigate the far reaches of the park that end in Lake Tepuhueico. Arrive back to the hotel in the early evening in time for sunset in the outdoor, heated infinity pool overlooking the wildlife-rich Pullao Wetland.

Your tour by boat today focuses on the culture and history of the island, spending the day touring the capital of Castro. Visit the traditional stilt houses of the 16th-century city, recounting the historic tensions and blending of cultures between the islanders and the mainland. A stop at the picturesque Yumbel Market allows you to browse some of the items and products most typical to the archipelago – including chilote potatoes, giant garlic, basketry, fabrics and seafood - and learn about their economy and traditions. A visit to the coastal shipyard offers insight into this immensely important part of island life. During the course of the day there will also be two significant architectural stops: firstly at the San Francisco Church, the region’s main Catholic house of worship and a UNESCO World Heritage Site; and Nercón Church, a legacy of the renowned Chilota School of Wood Architecture, where the tour concludes. Arrive back to the hotel’s farm-to-table restaurant to enjoy a fresh plate of the daily catch from the local fishing community visited on your tour, with warmly lit panoramic views of the inland sea.

Transfer back to the airport in Puerto Montt for your flight to Punta Arenas, where you will be met and taken to your accommodation, the most luxurious lodge within the Torres del Paine National Park. Spend the rest of the day settling into these spectacular surroundings.

The full day voyage begins by boat along the ice cold, crystalline waters of the Cochrane River and lake basin. During this part of the excursion, camera at the ready, you’ll be presented with peaceful views of the forested mountains either side of you from the water. Later on, disembark and continue by foot along the southern slopes of the park, one of the main huemel habitats, hiking through the forests in search of wildlife, accompanied by birdsong. Your guide will find a particularly scenic spot in this quiet part of Chilean Patagonia to enjoy your picnic lunch, handmade by the hotel’s kitchen using fresh local produce.

Day 11 TORRES DEL PAINE NATIONAL PARK: WILDLIFE & LAGOONS

After breakfast, set out on your second full day of activities on foot from the lodge, across the vast steppe. There are two options: for twitchers, your guide can lead you on a morning hike to Laguna Cisnes (Swan Lagoon) home to one of the largest variety of birds in the area or alternatively, you can march on the region bordering the Chacabuco River to an area known to be populated by pumas and guancos, to learn about the land-dwelling creatures of the park. Return back to the lodge for lunch and a chance to soak in one of the outdoor hot tubs at the foot of the mountains. In the afternoon, cover more ground in the comfort of your overland vehicle searching out the various lagoons - such as Edita, Cisnes, Los Flamencos and Seca - around the confluence of the Baker and Neff rivers.

Saying farewell this spectacular area of the globe, you'll be taken back to the airport in Puerto Natales for your direct flight back to the capital. Here, your driver will be waiting to take you to one of Chile's most famous wine regions - the Colchagua Valley. Enjoy some downtime at the end of your trip in style, at the Lapostolle vineyard, winery and hotel nestled in the hills overlooking Chile’s spectacular Apalta Vineyards in the valley. A recommended start to your time here might begin with a tour of the vineyard and a private tasting in the winery before dinner to set the scene for the rest stay.

A stay at Casa Lapostolle is the ultimate luxury wine experience in Chile, where days can be spent whiling away within the picturesque setting of the verdant valley. A team of chefs prepares a menu for each wine using top-quality seasonal produce. Unusual that such an upscale boutique lodge in the desert is right in the heart of San Pedro de Atacama, but this Relais & Chateaux property does everything its own way and that it does well. 12 gorgeous adobe, stone and cactus wood suites inspired by pre-Inca ruins and furnished with comfy armchairs, alpaca blankets and first rates beds. A full board basis of gourmet dishes are included and guests can expect nothing but pristine service with seven members of staff to each guest, including your own private guide and driver for the duration of the stay. Yet still down to earth and kid friendly, this is getting the most out of the driest place on earth.
Explora Patagonia: Hotel Salto Chico, Torres Del Paine
A very luxurious base for exploring the national park, Explora Patagonia is an upmarket, all-inclusive lodge located inside the Torres del Paine National Park. The Explora group handpick excellent local excursions that are full-inclusive of your stay at all their properties. The Explora Patagonia offers more than 35 excursions, including some of the highlights as well as such original ones like being a gaucho for the day. The lodge is located beside the Salto Chico waterfall and rooms either have views of the granite spires that give the park its name or the waterfall. Interiors are made of wood and slate copper, and a walkway connects the property to open-air whirlpools. Rooms feature almond-wood floors and have traded in televisions for windows, with one of the most beautiful views anywhere in the world. As with all of their properties the food is very highly rated.

Surrounded by lake and mountains, the Tierra Patagonia boutique hotel is the ideal base to explore the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of Torres del Paine National Park.
