Example Itinerary
This is an example itinerary. Our experts have all travelled widely in the region and will be happy to tailor any of our itineraries to suit your tastes and budget, or build a trip from scratch.
Day 1 ARRIVE LA PAZ
On arrival in La Paz you will be welcomed by a local representative and transferred to your hotel. After some time to rest up, be guided through the city in the afternoon to unearth its mysterious past, visiting the local markets for an insight into indigenous culture and rituals. These traditional attractions are surrounded by colonial architecture and the city is framed by the majestic Illimani Mountain. The tour then takes you just outside the city to the Moon Valley; a clay formation resembling the surface of the moon where breathtaking panoramas can be enjoyed.
Day 2 LA PAZ - TIWANAKU
This morning your guide will take you to the magnificent Tiwanaku ruins which provide an amazing look into an ancient civilisation. The Sun Gate, the Temple of Kalasasaya and the Pyramid of Akapana are examples of its glorious past where you can learn how the community sustained a successful agrarian based economy. The former inhabitants were pioneers in agriculture, engineering and medicine but a long famine caused the settlement's collapse. At the end of your half day tour stop for lunch at a local restaurant en route back to your hotel in the city.
Day 3 LA PAZ - RURRENABAQUE
An early departure from La Paz for your local flight to the Amazon brings you to the Amazon’s entry town of Rurrenabaque for your overnight. The afternoon is at leisure to explore the town.
Day 4 RURRENABAQUE - AMAZON RAINFOREST
Travel deep into the rainforest by small boat, down the Beni and Tuichi rivers before landing ashore and hiking to your eco-lodge. After lunch and a chance to settle in, you can enjoy a swim or canoe ride in the nearby lake or simply relax in your tranquil surroundings. The afternoon includes a briefing about the natural importance of this national park. Later on, take a trail to discover the area's nocturnal wildlife including frogs, birds and insects.
Day 5 AMAZON RAINFOREST
A morning hike introduces you to a host of exotic vegetation and your guide will explain the medicinal properties of these herbs and plants. After lunch, the chance for a little leisure time at the lodge and a nature lesson before an afternoon trek to find the region's endemic mammals and reptiles including monkeys, caiman and anacondas. Return to the lodge for your final night in the jungle.
Day 6 AMAZON RAINFOREST - LA PAZ
Walk back to the river port in the morning before returning to Rurrenabaque by boat for your flight to La Paz. Upon arrival, you will be collected from the airport and taken to your hotel by private transfer.
Day 7 LA PAZ - COROICO - LA PAZ
Head out of the bustling capital to the meeting point for your bike excursion this morning. The road from Yungas to Coroico begins at a high altitude with fantastic views of the surrounding snow-capped peaks. From here, descend rapidly on your mountain bike down a twisting path, passing towering cliff faces, dramatic drops and amazing scenery. With expert instruction and supervision, you can safely enjoy Bolivia's most famous road, stopping for snacks and photos as you approach the jungle dirt track surrounded by rock overhangs and cascading waterfalls. At the end of the trail, arrive at an animal refuge for a well-deserved buffet lunch and some relaxation time by the pool. Transfer back to your hotel in La Paz at the end of the day.
Day 8 LA PAZ - UYUNI
The final leg of the trip begins with a flight to Uyuni, where on arrival you will be transported to the largest salt flats on earth, located on the Bolivian Andean Altiplano. A journey into this unique landscape is an unforgettable experience as you travel over the surreal hexagons of crystalline salt, beneath a cobalt sky and amongst unusual wildlife and natural phenomena. Drive to 'Fish Island' which juts out remarkably from the flat terrain. This is an oasis-type ecosystem within the salt pan littered with cacti and an ideal place for photography. Following lunch, take an overland transfer to Jirira to arrive at your private Airstream Camper, then enjoy dinner and an overnight on board.
Day 9 UYUNI SALT FLATS
Enjoy a full day excursion to the salt lake where flamingos gather under the sun. Early on, stop at bizarre geological landmarks before reaching the foot of the Tunupa Volcano. In the afternoon, gaze at the incredible sunset before your final cosy night aboard the Airstream.

Positive Impact of this Trip
Making a Difference
Community Tourism
People and local communities have always been at the heart of Wild Frontiers and the travel experiences we offer. Through community tourism we have the opportunity to generate real positive impact, supporting people we visit through sustainable local development, and in turn help to alleviate poverty and protect culture and environments in often more vulnerable destinations. While doing so, our clients gain richer travel experiences and more meaningful connections with the people they meet.
Conservation and Climate Action
As a travel company, we hold a responsibility to minimise our environmental footprint and contribute to sustainability, and work closely with local communities to support their efforts. By implementing initiatives such as carbon measuring, tree-planting, reducing single-use plastic and promoting eco-friendly practices, we can help mitigate the negative impacts of tourism on fragile ecosystems and local communities. Additionally, prioritising conservation efforts helps preserve natural habitats and wildlife, ensuring that future generations can continue to enjoy the wonders of our planet.
Wild Frontiers Foundation
The Wild Frontiers Foundation aims to provide a platform to create awareness, raise money and deliver funding to projects in countries where we operate as a travel company. Through the foundation, we are able to channel money into grass roots projects, which we have either established ourselves or support through charity partners. These include initiatives focused around education, the empowerment of local people and community conservation.
