This classic 11 or 13-day adventure will introduce you to the majestic beauty and grandeur of one of the world’s last great wildernesses. A dazzling landscape of vivid emeralds and violets, intense crimson light and sweeping panoramas of blue ice, Antarctica promises adventure on a scale of unimaginable beauty and scope.
Leaving from the southernmost tip of South America, you’ll venture through the Beagle Channel and across the open waters of the Drake Passage, one of the most notorious seaways anywhere in the world. Accompanied along the way by an inquisitive array of seabirds, the journey takes you on towards the remote South Shetland Islands and the vast Antarctic Peninsula where icebergs, glaciers and thousands of penguins await.
With daily zodiac excursions, there will be chances along the way to look for whales, take a plunge in the icy waters of the Southern Ocean and enjoy a fascinating series of on board lectures from a host of Antarctic experts. Journeying back across the Drake Passage, the voyage then ends back in Ushuaia in time to catch the flight on to Buenos Aires.
TRIP HIGHLIGHTS
- Visit the remote icy tundra of the Arctic Shelf
- Navigate the Drake Passage
- See the majestic marine life that inhabit these waters
- Marvel at the penguin colonies
