Emma - getting ready for Naadam in Mongolia

9th July 2010

Left UB well behind us - passing street-side goat and sheep markets along the way as everyone prepares for Naadam festivities. I'm sure everyone on the trip is excited about the BBQ sheep's head; apparantly the eyes are the best bit! Left our valley ger camp facing Amarbaysgalant monastery this morning, with a wave and shot of whiskey as thanks to the tractor driver that assisted our ride down the mud track to the main road. Just heading to Bulgan now for the Naadam Festival but got our first taster as we stopped to watch a race by the roadside. Following the crowds we ended up at a village Naadam, young and old in their most colourful impressive deels and hundreds of horses. Can't wait until the real thing tomorrow when Tulga has assured us the sun will come out again for our arrival!
