Empire Podcast Review

Many of us Brits will have been taught in school how a Roman hypocaust heating system worked or what the significance of 1066 was but few of us will ever have been taught about how a small island off the coast of Europe actually came to colonise the Indian Subcontinent or about the significance (or even the existence) of critically significant events such as the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre. This podcast, hosted by Wild Frontiers’ good friend William Dalrymple and my old school colleague Anita Anand is simply put one of the best things I’ve ever listened to. It is becoming increasingly rare these days to be able to find anyone willing or able to offer a balanced approach towards history without having an obvious agenda, yet William and Anita succeed in doing this in both a learned and entertaining way. After listening to just a couple of episodes I challenge anyone not to want to visit or to return to India, which is quite handy as we happen to offer quite a few options for travelling to the region. Listen and enjoy.
