We’re in the midst of the annual Perseid meteor shower, with the peak set for the 12th of August. While we aim to catch a glimpse and make a wish upon a falling star, we have selected some of the best places for stargazing that you can experience on our tours.
The Atacama Desert, Chile
The Atacama Desert is the driest non-polar desert in the world. What looks like the surface of Mars in the daytime has some of the best stargazing opportunities at night. The Namib Desert, Namibia
Namibia is another destination that offers spectacular views of the stars; it is also home to Africa's first International Dark Sky Reserve in NamibRand Nature Reserve. The best time to visit for clearer skies is during the dry season between May and October.

Son Kul Lake, Kyrgyzstan
Son Kul Lake enjoys around 280 days of cloudless skies; mix that in with a night spent in a yurt, a lake to one side, a mountainous landscapes and the shining stars above and you have a recipe for the perfect night.

Wadi Rum, Jordan
Wadi Rum offers near-year-round clear skies for the best view of the stars. Summertime is considered one of the best times to visit for stargazing, but the daytime temperatures can reach well past 40C degrees. We would recommend visiting during the spring and autumn times when temperatures during the daytime are lower.
