A unique opportunity to spend some time experiencing what it is like to be an authentic dog ‘musher’, this unforgettable winter adventure takes you deep into the wilds of Swedish Lapland. Travelling up beyond the Arctic Circle, you’ll spend five remarkable days on safari looking after your own team of huskies and driving them through the pristine wilderness of the high Arctic.
Following a network of old trails, this unique adventure takes you through the high mountain regions of some of the most remote landscapes in northern Europe, travelling between thirty to sixty kilometres a day. A real challenge for lovers of adventure and the great outdoors, you will be travelling long distances, mushing for up to six hours each day, so some experience of extreme outdoor conditions or previous husky tours is preferable.
Evenings will then be spent enjoying the peace and serenity of landscapes far removed from the distractions of everyday life, as you spend the nights in remote mountain huts with no electricity and running water accompanied, hopefully, by the dazzling displays of the spectacular Aurora Borealis.

ITINERARY
This is a suggested itinerary. Our experts have all travelled widely in the region and will be happy to tailor any of our itineraries to suit your tastes, or build a trip from scratch.
DAY 1: KIRUNA

You will be met at the airport and transferred to your Arctic base. Meet your tour leader and the rest of the group during dinner. You will be briefed by your guide on the adventure ahead.

After breakfast you will get to know the basics of dogsledding including handling the sled and harnessing your own dogs. The sleds will be packed and brought with you to the Wilderness Lodge. After arrival, you will meet your faithful huskies and take care of them. Collect water from a little creek and prepare dinner before relaxing in the sauna.

You are now ready to explore the wilderness of Sweden's Arctic Taiga landscape. Spend the next few days travelling from wilderness hut to wilderness hut, enjoying open fire lunches and candlelit dinners. The conditions are basic in the huts as there is no electricity or running water, creating a truly wild experience. The routing will depend on the weather and the wishes of the group. Distances will vary from 30 to 60 kilometres.

In the early afternoon, you will return to the base in Kiruna for lunch. Simply relax after a long expedition or there is the option to tour the Sami museum, visit the famous Icehotel or go for a snowmobile ride (not included).
Following breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your onward flight.
