This unforgettable journey deep into the heart of the arctic wilderness combines two of northern Sweden’s most luxurious and exclusive accommodations. Feel connected to the forest at the Treehotel whilst soaking up your surroundings from your private jacuzzi at the Arctic Retreat, hopefully with the shimmering spectacle of the Northern Lights in sight.
The snow blanketed forest and the frozen waters provide the perfect backdrop to this stunning Arctic adventure as you spend your days enjoying an array of activities from snowmobile safaris and dog sled rides, to Aurora hunting and listening to traditional Sami music in a lavvu tent.
Enjoying the warmth and hospitality of the famous Treehotel, you will spend two days savouring delicious food, Arctic saunas and the cosy atmosphere of your room, as you learn the ropes of snowmobiling in these remote forests. It is then onto the family-run Arctic Retreat set within the forested village of Överstbyn and along the river Råne. Spend three nights here getting to know the host family and exploring the wilderness on husky sled, as well as meeting Sami reindeer herders.

ITINERARY
This is a suggested itinerary. Our experts have all travelled widely in the region and will be happy to tailor any of our itineraries to suit your tastes, or build a trip from scratch.
DAY 1: LULEA - HARADS

DAY 1: LULEA - HARADS
Your journey begins at Lulea airport on the coastal edge of the Luleå archipelago. Our local representative will meet you at the airport and take you to Harads, located 50km south of the Arctic Circle. You will be given a tour of the world famous Treehotel, your base for the next two nights. Spend tonight relaxing in the jacuzzi and sauna, taking in the incredible surroundings.
DAY 2: HARADS

DAY 2: HARADS
After breakfast this morning, you will be briefed on how to use a snowmobile for your two-and-a-half-hour journey into the forest. The winter wilderness of Harads provides the perfect backdrop to your snowmobile adventure. Return to the lodge for lunch and an afternoon of leisure or an optional activity of your choice. Sample flavours of Lapland in the Treehotel Restaurant during a three-course meal before retiring to your unique accommodation for one more night.
DAY 3: HARADS - GUNNARSBYN

DAY 3: HARADS - GUNNARSBYN
This morning you will be transferred approximately an hour and a half to the family-run Arctic Retreat, hidden in a forest along the Råne River. The afternoon then provides a chance to relax in the jacuzzi and your cabin. Following a three-course dinner, head out on a photography focused Northern Lights safari.
DAY 4: GUNNARSBYN

DAY 4: GUNNARSBYN
After breakfast, you will be taken over to the nearby kennels to meet your team of huskies and their resident musher. Once you are ready, your dog-sled safari sets off along the forested trails. Enjoy the snowy surroundings with only the sound of paws hitting snow to break the silence. Later, a sumptuous three course meal affords an opportunity to relax in the comfort of the lodge's cosy lounge with, hopefully, the Aurora Borealis as a backdrop.
DAY 5: GUNNARSBYN

DAY 5: GUNNARSBYN
Today you will delve into the Sami culture of Lapland at Jokkmokk. Meet the reindeer and their herders. At lunchtime you can take a break in a traditional Sami hut (lavvu), where you will be prepared a typical lunch and enjoy it on the reindeer pelts around the fire. Listen to the sounds of joik, traditional Sami music, before returning to Arctic Retreat. Then, it is time for relaxation and a final dinner of seasonal produce.
DAY 6: GUNNARSBYN - LULEA

Depart after breakfast this morning and transfer back to Luleå airport.
SUGGESTED ACCOMMODATION
Tree Hotel, Harads
Consisting of seven tree houses offering a contemporary, quirky feel whilst still being eco-friendly this is a fantastic option for families and couples looking for something different in Lapland. Each house is individually designed: the Mirror Cube, the Blue Cone and Cabin views are stunning and are better suited to couples, whilst the UFO and Bird's Nest would work well for families as they can accommodate up to four people. The 7th Room is their final masterpiece and works for everyone. Tying everything together is the lovely Britta's Pensionat guesthouse where the owners Kent and Britta Lindvall reside and are more than happy to help with any request be it for husky sledding or snowshoeing.
Arctic Retreat, Gunnarsbyn
Arctic Retreat is a small scale and very personal lodge experience owned and operated by a young local family in the village of Överstbyn, about a one-hour drive north west of Luleå. Here, on the banks of the Råne River within a forest, you will experience life in Swedish Lapland in an amazing log cabin accommodation. Two new loft cabins were built in 2017 to match the existing log cabin buildings. Each cabin has a double bed upstairs in the loft area and some have bunk beds downstairs. There is also the possibility for extra bed in the loft for larger families or groups. Food will be high-end local cuisine and prepared according to the season and activities on the day. An all-inclusive stay at Arctic Retreat includes a daily activity close to the camp, often in combination with an outdoor lunch. In addition, you can use snowshoes free of charge, as well as the Jacuzzi.
