ITINERARY
This is a suggested itinerary. Our experts have all travelled widely in the region and will be happy to tailor any of our itineraries to suit your tastes, or build a trip from scratch.
DAY 1: LONGYEARBYEN

DAY 1: LONGYEARBYEN
The journey begins in the remote town of Longyearbyen, the world's most northerly, permanently inhabited settlement. Transferring to the rustic Basecamp Hotel on arrival, a stunningly designed modern adaptation of a traditional trapper's dwelling built from Russian driftwood, you will then have the rest of the day to explore this remarkable town at leisure.
DAY 2: LONGYEARBYEN - ISFJORD

DAY 2: LONGYEARBYEN - ISFJORD
After breakfast this morning you will briefed on the adventure ahead by your guide before heading out to the snowmobiles. Once ready, you then head west towards the stunning landscapes of the Isfjord and the unique setting of the Isfjord Radio hotel. Stopping along the way to learn a little more about the history and nature of this spectacular region and, hopefully, spot some of the resident wildlife, you'll arrive at the old radio station later this afternoon. Spend the evening enjoying a three-course meal before a quick Arctic swim and sauna session.
DAY 3: ISFJORD

DAY 3: ISFJORD
Departing Isfjord after a hearty breakfast, you'll head once more into the stark beauty of the Svalbard Archipelago. Today's exact routing will very much be dependent on the weather and snow conditions but the plan is to visit the Fritjof glacier. With luck, you might see the mighty polar bear whilst it hunts for seals on the ice. You will then complete the journey back to Isfjord.
DAY 4: ISFJORD - BARENTSBURG - LONGYEARBYEN

DAY 4: ISFJORD - BARENTSBURG - LONGYEARBYEN
The plan today is to visit the Russian mining town of Barentsburg. Home to some 300 people, Barentsburg began life as a Dutch settlement and today boasts the northernmost diplomatic mission on earth. After a chance to explore a little something of this remote Arctic community, you'll then complete the journey back to Longyearbyen.
SUGGESTED ACCOMMODATION
Basecamp Hotel, Longyearbyen
Built using reclaimed driftwood, the rustic and charming Basecamp Hotel (also known as Trappers Lodge) is furnished throughout with Arctic bric-a-brac and traditional furnishings. A warm and welcoming retreat, all of its 16 rooms come with private bathrooms and an eclectic array of sealskins, slates and driftwood interiors. In keeping with its rustic charm, there are no TVs in the lodge, but an extensive library provides a wealth of reading material, whilst the panoramic windows of the Cognac Lounge present the perfect setting in which to enjoy the splendid displays of the Northern Lights. Complimentary tea, coffee and snacks are also available throughout the day.
Isfjord Radio Hotel, Isfjord
The world’s most northerly boutique hotel. It is beautifully situated on the Nordenskiöld coast framed by the majestic Svalbard Mountains and overlooking the open sea. Until few years ago, the radio station was an important connection for telecommunication between mainland Norway and Svalbard. It has now been converted into a lovely hotel complete with soft furnishings, 23 charming rooms, and three course meals. During the winter it is ice locked and accessible by snow mobile or husky sledge and by boat in the summer, it definitely is a unique place to stay. .
