ITINERARY
This is a suggested itinerary. Our experts have all travelled widely in the region and will be happy to tailor any of our itineraries to suit your tastes, or build a trip from scratch.
DAY 1: ALTA

DAY 1: ALTA
Arriving at Alta airport today, you will be met and transferred to the Scandic Alta for your two-night stay. Only a five-minute walk from the Northern Lights Cathedral, the accommodation provides the ideal base to explore the breathtaking landscapes of Norwegian Lapland.
DAY 2: ALTA

DAY 2: ALTA
Following breakfast, head off on a city tour exploring Alta's cultural sights or go on a fat bike tour. Begin the tour at the Northern Lights Cathedral, a symbol of Alta which combines natural and spiritual elements which has a fascinating exhibition outlining the science behind the Aurora Borealis. For the more adventurous, fat biking along snowmobile trails allows for a great way to see the Alta Valley, stopping for a fireside snack and hot drink on the way. This evening sees you snaking through Alta's snow-covered forests on a Norwegian Fjord horse sleigh, in search of the Northern Lights. Stop for a warming fireside dinner at a wilderness shelter where you will also have the chance to photograph the Northern Lights (weather permitting).
DAY 3: ALTA

DAY 3: ALTA
Try another classic Arctic activity this morning, snowshoeing and ice fishing. Your guide will meet you at the hotel and take you to get your snowshoes fitted. You can choose to wear skis if you prefer. Once kitted out, hike through the pine forests in search of animal tracks and the peaceful moments created by nature. A husky dog will pull along the equipment needed for catching your lunch. Try your hand at ice fishing with the hope of tasting it over an open fire in a traditional lavvo tent. Return to the hotel where your transfer to Sorrisniva awaits. The world’s most northern ice hotel is built anew every year with varying themes and designs. Following a delicious three-course meal, meet your guide who will take you through the forest to a lavvu tent on a reindeer sled where you will learn Sami cultures and traditions.
DAY 4: ALTA - LYNGEN ALPS

DAY 4: ALTA - LYNGEN ALPS
You will be met at the lodge by your private driver and vehicle. Travel further into the wilds of Lapland to the beautiful fjords of Lyngen. The total drive time today is approximately five hours but there will be plenty of opportunity to stretch your legs and take photos of the incredibly beautiful scenery, often without a person in sight. Enjoy dinner tonight before relaxing in Lyngen Experience Lodge's outdoor hot tub overlooking the ocean and mountains, hopefully with the Northern Lights dancing above.
DAY 5: LYNGEN ALPS

DAY 5: LYNGEN ALPS
Today you will be exploring the Lyngen Alps area by snowmobile. The trail will take you up to the mountains, where you can stop to take photos or take in the incredible scenery. Return to the lodge for a free afternoon. The northern location of Lyngen allows for good whale watching opportunities so you can take the opportunity to go on a whale safari into the stunning fjords. Dinner is included tonight once more at the lodge.
DAY 6: LYNGEN - TROMSO

DAY 6: LYNGEN - TROMSO
Meet your trusty pack at the husky kennel this morning. Your guide will instruct you on how to mush the huskies in preparation for a sled ride into surrounding majestic landscapes with only the sounds of paws in snow breaking the silence. Depart after lunch in a private transfer to Tromsø. Located some 350 kilometres to the north of the Arctic Circle and ringed by mountains and fjords, Norway's 'Paris of the North' is an engaging mix of natural and cultural attractions. This afternoon will be free to explore at your own pace before setting sail on a Northern Lights sailing tour. The catamaran has comfortable nets with reindeer skin blankets to keep you warm as you view the sky.
DAY 7: TROMSO

DAY 7: TROMSO
Enjoy your last breakfast in the Arctic before being transferred to the airport in time for your departing flight.
