Arguably one of the most famous hotels in Egypt, the Sofitel Winter Palace in Luxor is a grand statement of colonial and Pharaonic times. Created within an opulent 19th-century palace that was once a winter retreat for the Egyptian royal family. Agatha Christie wrote her famed 1937 novel Death on the Nile and staying here you will see how this fantastic location inspired her world-renowned novel. There are 86 rooms and 6 suites using elegant materials and harmonious décor, perfectly matched with the views of the Nile. The historic 1886 French restaurant has a crystal lit salon and is perfect for romantic evenings. The more casual La Corniche serves breakfast and dinner, whilst the poolside L’Oasis serves gourmet pizza and salads and the Victorian Lounge has sumptuous afternoon teas. The Central Park Bar is reached during a stroll through the bougainvillea-lined gardens and is perfect for an evening tipple after a long day of visiting the ancient sites.
