While studying Geography and Environmental Sustainability at University in Scotland, I travelled around Iceland, Greece, Japan, Canada and the United States during my summers. I couldn’t quite shake the travel bug so last year I quit my job in the energy industry and solo travelled across Central America by land over 4 months visiting Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama. I then headed to Malaysia, Italy, Hungary, Austria and Germany. I have so many fantastic memories with many highlights including getting my Open Water Diving PADI in Utila, Honduras, trekking through Miraflor Natural Reserve and Somoto Cayon National Park in Nicaragua, enjoying the tranquillity of the jungle in Semuc Champey, Guatemala and visiting a local family for a cooking class in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia.
On my return, I jumped at the chance to join Wild Frontiers because their values of sustainable and immersive travel align with my own. My first trip with Wild Frontiers was to Pakistan on our Pakistan Hindu Kush Adventure - it was spectacular, and so interesting to learn about the country where Wild Frontiers began!

Favourite Country?
Nicaragua - the people, the landscape, the atmosphere, food, and everything in between was just fabulous.
Favourite Meal?
Being vegan and travelling can be difficult at times, but you can always make it work and I love trying all the local fruit and vegetables. The coffee in Central America was delicious, particularly in Boquete, Panama.
Most memorable journey?
I have three! The first would have to be driving through the Hindu Kush and Karakoram Highway in Pakistan, nothing quite like sitting in open-top jeeps being surrounded by the spectacular landscape. The second was hiking the Acatenango volcano in Guatemala and seeing the active lava throughout the night. The final one is travelling down the Kinabatangan River in Borneo and seeing wild Orangutans hanging from the trees!
Favourite travel advice?
Plan but don’t over-plan! Make sure you get to visit places that are a priority for you, but also allow for spontaneity, advice from locals and surprises along the way!
